The Designer.
Annabel
Annabel Fleming is a Canadian fashion and textile designer. She draws great inspiration from the idea of creating stories through fashion that fuse nature with history. She relishes the opportunity to escape to the planet’s raw and quiet corners where she finds the distractions gone, her senses heightened, and her being, transformed. She finds creativity in the natural curves and contours of driftwood, in the manes of wild horses and the current of the ocean. She then draws those lines and colours into her collection.
Her designs are for today’s modern urban woman who wears timeless clothing. This woman appreciates quality fabrics and comfort, but desires and appreciates an element of fantasy and romance blended into her sense of practicality. Her wardrobe is streamlined yet unique, and she is carefully curated and modern though all the while classic. Her look ultimately reflects her best and truest self: an intelligent, creative and self-reliant woman who appreciates tradition but looks forward to her ever-evolving future.
Annabel is currently completing her fourth year of studies in Fashion Design at Ryerson University. She will graduate in Spring 2015, after which she will return to Abercrombie & Fitch as a technical designer. Annabel was one of 25 interns to secure this role following a competitive internship period in the summer of 2014.
Her previous work experience is richly varied. It includes interning with Canadian textile designer Virginia Johnson, and working wholesale for Michael Kors. She has worked as a sales analyst for Tkees and has contributed to production for Dennis Merotto and Annie 50.
Annabel is originally from Waterloo, Ontario.
